πŸ”° Beginner's Guide

This article will guide you on how to build your base and fleet quickly.

When we first start, we have a few resources (⚑ Electricity, πŸ”© Metal and πŸ’Ž Crystal), so first thing we want to do is to go to the 🏬 Technology Center. This building will enable us to research our Technology Level to be able to build more advanced buildings.

Click 🏭 Buildings (or type it) click on the link next to the 🏬 Technology Center, it will look something like /building4. Then click on /newjobresearchtechnology. This will start researching Technology Level 1, which will enable us to build more buildings such as the πŸ— Starport (to build units), πŸ—Ό Light Laser (to defend from enemies) or πŸ“‘ Radar (to warn us when an attack is incoming).

While we wait, let's build some of the most important buildings in the game: Resource and Storage buildings.

Go to 🏭 Buildings, 🚧 New Building and build 3 πŸŒ‹ Metal Mines and 3 β›° Crystal Mines to gather πŸ”© Metal and πŸ’Ž Crystal, we will need more πŸ”© Metal at the start. There is another resource called ⚑ Electricity, but we can manage with what we've got for now.

Now build a 🏒 Warehouse, each will increase storage for πŸ”© Metal and πŸ’Ž Crystal.

Priority #1 is researching Technology until we get to build πŸ‡¬πŸ‡¬ Scouts, with the remaining resources aim for 8 πŸŒ‹ Metal Mines, 8 β›° Crystal Mines and 4 🌞 Solar Panels to gather resources, 3 🏒 Warehouses and 1 πŸ”‹ Battery.

And now we wait… SpaceHunt is a game that doesn't require our full attention all the time, and does many things passively. Go grab a coffee or chat with your friends and come back in a bit.

Now that we know how to build, you may have seen that there are other menus: πŸ–₯ Dashboard, πŸ›Έ Missions, ✈️ Units, πŸ”± Guild and πŸ“‹ Log.

Let's quickly see what each does:

πŸ–₯ Dashboard

The Dashboard is really helpful because it sums up what is going on:

πŸ‘€ Batman πŸŽ–366.9α΄‹ 🌐577x608
πŸ§ͺ Research: πŸ”¬ΒΉβ° βš™οΈΒ²β° 🏒²¹ πŸ”§Β² 🧠⁷ βš”οΈΒΉβ· πŸ›‘Β²βΆ ❀️²⁰ πŸ’¨Β²ΒΉ
✈️ Units: 47 /140
🏭 Buildings: 107 /107
⚑️ Electricity: 18695 /35875 ²²⁰ᐟᡐ
πŸ”© Metal: 41754 /270600 ⁴²⁸ᐟᡐ
πŸ’Ž Crystal: 118362 /270600 ³³⁢ᐟᡐ
  • πŸ‘€ Username: this can be changed with the command /name, type /name Klapaucius to change your name to Klapaucius (do it early in game).
  • πŸŽ– Score: a number that tells how strong you are based on number of buildings, units and resources.
  • 🌐 Coordinates: keep them secret! Anyone that knows your coordinates can attack you at any time!
  • πŸ”¬ Technology Level: The level you have for Technology
  • βš™ Production Level: The level you have for Production (gathering resources faster). Don't worry too much about them for now, this and the following ones are unlocked later in the game (through Research Technology so keep leveling that up!)
  • βš” Attack Level: Stronger weapons to deal more damage
  • 🏒 Storage Level: Increase Warehouse space to store more resources
  • πŸ”§ Repair Level: Faster repairing/upgrading of units and buildings
  • πŸ›‘ Defense Level: Higher shield for turrets and units
  • ❀️ Health Level: Higher health for turrets and units
  • πŸ’¨ Speed Level: Faster travel speed for your units
  • πŸ›Έ Units: The number of units / limit you can have
  • 🏭 Buildings: The number of buildings / limit you can have (upgrading this number comes later in the game, don't worry for now)
  • βš‘οΈπŸ”©πŸ’Ž: Your resources / how many you can store (and production per minute)

You can change your name to something else by typing name YOURNEWNAME

πŸ›Έ Missions

We will be able to launch explorations, raids and transfers.

✈️ Units

Lists all the units we've got.

πŸ”± Guild

When we have enough level, joining a guild will make us stronger.

πŸ“‹ Log

See important past messages that we may have missed.

πŸ— Starport

Once we have researched Technology Level 1 we can build the πŸ— Starport. Go build it!

πŸ›« Hangar

Let's also build a πŸ›« Hangar so we can store Units. It will take 30 minutes more or less, build resources and storage but keep πŸ’Ž1,000 for our first unit (the πŸ‡²πŸ‡΄ Observer) when the πŸ— Starport is completed!

Once we have the πŸ— Starport and πŸ›« Hangar, go to the πŸ— Starport and start building an πŸ‡²πŸ‡΄ Observer, this unit is super fast and will enable us to explore other planets quickly.

While doing all this, keep researching the Technology level since it will unlock necessary jobs, buildings and units for the future.

πŸ›° Exploring

Once we get our first πŸ‡²πŸ‡΄ Observer it's time to go Explore!!

Go to πŸ›Έ Missions and click on πŸ›° New Exploration. Select the πŸ‡²πŸ‡΄ Observer (or type /add1observer) and then click on πŸ›« Depart! (or type depart).

Exploring gives us a 70% chance to find new planets which we can [raid] later. Before raiding, it is wise to explore 3-5 planets so we can raid the lowest level ones first without the risk of getting destroyed.

Keep exploring for now until we get at least a πŸ‡¬πŸ‡¬ Scout (and optionally a πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡΄ Small Cargo Ship).

Production

By now we probably have a nice resource production rate. If not, keep building Mines until we get to 15-20 Mines of each (the maximum is 20). Yes, we want that many, it's free resources!

πŸ§ͺ Engineering Bay

Once we can build the πŸ§ͺ Engineering Bay, do so and research βš™ Production which will give us a nice boost in all our Mines and Solar Panels.

Defending

Sooner or later someone will attack us, there's two strategies we can do:

  • Defend: build πŸ—Ό Light Lasers and other defensive buildings to keep enemies at bay and gather all our units at base to get ready. I wouldn't recommend this until we have a nice fleet though because we can get all our units wiped out.
  • Flee: build a πŸ“‘ Radar and detect attacks before they happen. Once we know someone is coming, we need to act quickly: spend all our resources, deactivate all our turrets so they don't engage in combat, and put all our units in a mission, we don't need to Depart the mission, just being assigned to any mission will make our units not engage in combat.

Next steps

Now we will have a good base and will be able to Raid, Explore, Research and build our fleet further.

Keep researching and we will find new jobs such as the πŸ“‘ Automatic Scan, stronger turrets/units or the 🏦 Trade Beacon that will allow us to buy and sell units & resources.

Also, keep building until we reach the maximum planet slots, to give you an idea, my current resource/storage is 5 πŸ”‹ Batteries, 10 🏒 Warehouses, 10 🌞 Solar Panels, 20 πŸŒ‹ Metal Mines and 20 β›° Crystal Mines.

It is not until late in game that we will be able to extend our building slots so we will need to optimize space demolishing things that are not strictly necessary.

You are set!

Head over to the Wiki to learn more about specific Buildings/Units as well as find reference tables for costs and durations of every building, job and unit. Two very interesting pages are the 🏬 Technology Center and the πŸ§ͺ Engineering Bay. Also, check the πŸ“³ Random tips, and then, move to the πŸ›‘ Intermediate Guide or join a guild.

You can also join the community at the official SpaceHunt chat at @SpaceHuntGame where players and developers chat about the game, ask and answer questions, post announcements, etc.

There's plenty more for you to discover: πŸ”± Guilds, πŸ†š Wars, πŸ’΅ Taxes and βš– Laws…
